I’ve made these flashcards to teach students the persuasive language devices they’ll need when writing articles or letters.
They’ll be used both for my year 11s to help them with Section B of their English Language GCSE exam (AQA), and for students further down the school to get them used using them.
They follow the AFOREST acronym:
A – Alliteration
F – Facts
O – Opinion
R – Repetition and rhetorical questions
E – Emotive language and exaggeration
S – Statistics
T – Triple emphasis (rule of three)
